On 25th July 2016, Sri Trang Group welcomed General Prayuth Chan-o-cha, the Prime Minister, and Delegations to Sri Trang Agro-Industry Public Company Limited (STA), Narathiwas branch for a factory tour of the processing facility of block rubber with a production capacity of 60,000 tons per annum which should help stimulate local investment and prop up rubber prices.

Mr. Veerasith Sinchareonkul, Executive Director of STA, welcomed the Prime Minister and Delegations and affirmed STA’s commitment to contributing to the growth of Thailand’s natural rubber industry and the country’s economic growth. For the year 2015, Thailand produced 4 million tons of natural rubber, ranking number one in the world. As the world’s largest fully integrated natural rubber company, STA currently has 35 processing facilities, of which 31 are located in Thailand, 3 in Indonesia, and 1 in Myanmar, with a domestic production capacity

of 2 million tons per annum, representing 50% of Thailand’s production capacity, and a total production capacity of 2.4 million tons per annum, representing 20% of global consumption, generating more than 60 billion Baht per year in revenue for the country, representing 35% of Thailand’s export value for rubber.

“With nearly 30 years of experience, STA is committed to operating with integrity, fairness, transparency and meticulous attention to every production process, with environmentally friendly practices and an emphasis on community engagement. Heeding the government’s policy to stimulate industrial investment and spread income throughout the country, STA never ceases to expand operations into areas with a concentration of rubber plantations. Accordingly, at the start of 2015 and with 570 million Baht in investment, STA established Sri Trang Narathiwas and began construction of the processing facility, which would eventually generate about 300 million Baht per month in cash flow for the area. The project has been well-supported by the government and the local communities.”, said Veerasith.

Veerasith added: “STA has always put a strong emphasis on environment practices and all processing facilities of STA, including Sri Trang Narathiwas, are operated in accordance with the internationally recognized standard of EMS/ISO 14001 and utilize the activated sludge process in its treatment of wastewater. Besides, we

have developed a system whereby 100% of the water can be safely returned to the water cycle. Furthermore, Sri Trang Narathiwas will utilize an internationally recognized technology from Japan to minimize the odor emanating from rubber processing and will utilize Biomass, which is derived from woodchip, in baking natural rubber.”

“Construction of the facility is nearing completion, with 80 percent of the work having been finished. At the beginning stage, the production line of Sri Trang Narathiwas is designed for crepe rubber prior to the expansion to the production of block rubber which will hire approximately 300 workers. According to the policy of Sri Trang Group, Sri Trang Narathiwas will mainly procure raw materials and recruit workers from local area. STA intends that Sri Trang Narathiwas will generate income for the local communities, leading to better living conditions and happiness.” Veerasith concluded.
